Founder

Our story starts with our founder, Angus Gilmour. Angus is an ex professional badminton player who previously represented Scotland internationally, competing in both European and World Championships. Upon retirement from sport, Angus faced the question that every Athlete inevitably faces, what next?

Equipped with valuable experiences gained from his sporting life and a degree from Loughborough University, he moved to London to embark on a new career in recruitment. Over the following 8 years, Angus helped to build an award-winning international recruitment company, including founding and leading an office in Glasgow which supports hundreds of engineers annually into new positions across Europe, and generates multi million in annual revenues.

In 2021 Angus decided to put his combined knowledge and passion for the worlds of sport and recruitment to use, with the goal of building and delivering a best-in-class service which connects Athletes with professional careers within the technology sector globally.

Craig Hughes

Engagement Manager

Craig joined Athlete Origin after spending 12 years in the US Academic & Sports scholarship world, as a student-athlete, collegiate coach and talent mentor. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a MBA, with an emphasis in Sport Business Management. Craig handles Athlete Origin’s Engagement network and empowers Athletes to live successful and fulfilling lives beyond sport on a daily basis.

Outside of work – you will find Craig on the golf course or watching football. He enjoys traveling the world and exploring new places. So far, visiting 4 continents, 28 countries & 31 US States. His favourite place he’s visited to date – Oslo, Norway!
